Governance Toolkit for Small Charities

NCVO has published a free toolkit to help small charities implement the Charity Governance Code. The toolkit, which may be useful for small foundations or for grantees and applicants, helps micro charities with no staff take action to improve their governance by aiding discussion and providing templates for boards to make plans. https://knowhow.ncvo.org.uk/tools-resources/board-basics/tools-and-guidance/charity-governance-code-guide-for-micro-charities#

Making Tech Imaginable & Useable

The Institute of Voluntary Action Research (IVAR) has published an exploratory study into making technology imaginable and usable for small voluntary organisations. ‘Start Somewhere’, in association with the Centre for Acceleration of Social Technology (CAST), states that many organisations don’t know where to access appropriate support or don’t have the time to learn how to implement and use it, and so this report includes tips and advice from small voluntary organisations and issues for funders to think about. https://www.ivar.org.uk/research-report/start-somewhere/

Equality, Diversity and Inclusion in Fundraising

The Institute of Fundraising (IoF) has launched a new strategy setting out why change is needed on issues of equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) and what it will do to ensure they are addressed within the profession. The strategy, which takes forward commitments made in its manifesto for change, promises activities including further research, developing toolkits and affinity networks, and creating an EDI Committee chaired by an IoF trustee to provide advice and monitor progress. https://www.institute-of-fundraising.org.uk/news/iof-launch-new-strategy-to-improve-fundraising-profession/
